Our manifesto

SalonInteractive (SI) is committed to elevating the salon industry by responsibly collecting and managing aggregate key industry metrics through, and in partnership with, our Point of Sale (POS) partners.

SI anonymously aggregates key industry metrics from a diverse range of beauty professionals through our strategic industry partnerships.

Our aim is to elevate the salon experience with responsible data governance, ethical practices, and collaborative efforts. We offer key industry metrics to aid in understanding trends and economic cycles that will spark needed innovation in the beauty space. Doing so means brands and salons can stay ahead in a fast changing industry.

Industry metrics stewardship:

SI pledges to act as responsible stewards, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the industry metrics we collect. We are committed to sharing these metrics without bias, and they will be available to everyone interested in participating. Maintaining a level playing field for all businesses is imperative.

Security first:

SalonInteractive prioritizes data security through various approaches to ensure that access to sensitive data is controlled by following a defined Information Security Policy. These policies determine access control for users, acceptable use of data, approaches to protect customer data, and a definition of the general approach to information security at SalonInteractive.

We use authentication tools and techniques to ensure security of sensitive data. We also closely control and monitor the systems storing the data. SalonInteractive uses techniques such as two-factor auth and access control lists as added layers of security when accessing the systems we use to house sensitive information. Encryption methodologies are employed when sensitive data is in transit and at rest during storage.

SI conducts regular penetration testing to identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities in our systems and applications. We monitor for vulnerabilities within internal and external software and related dependencies used by the platform. Additional tooling is used to conduct Static Application Security Testing to ensure proper OWASP patterns are being followed to reduce data access vulnerabilities on the platform.

Education and awareness:

SalonInteractive is committed to fostering awareness about data privacy and governance. It is imperative to us to provide educational resources in collaboration with partners to support salon owners, empowering them to make informed decisions about their data.

Collaboration for innovation:

Collaboration is at the heart of SalonInteractive’s mission. We actively seek partnerships with industry experts, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to collectively drive innovation while upholding ethical data practices.

SI believes in empowering brands, distributors, technology partners, salon owners, and independent stylists through accessible and insightful industry metrics. We strive to democratize information, fostering a collaborative environment that benefits the entire salon ecosystem.

Why is data important?

Here’s the key to reporting metrics: compile industry metrics across multiple platforms, with careful consideration of representation. This approach will spark true innovation, drive success for the professional beauty space, and ultimately improve  business outcomes for stylists and salons. All of this is in the industry's best interests. Without these metrics, the professional beauty industry is at a severe disadvantage competing with mass retailers like Ulta, Sephora and Amazon. This information is critical to the health and sustainability of our industry!

Ethics board

SalonInteractive is inviting industry leaders from all segments of the industry to oversee and help guide our data stewardship. The goal will be to have 6-10 industry leaders that meet on a consistent basis to ensure the integrity and stewardship of the key metrics that are shared publicly.
